There is a lot of support to help you get ready for the KWT, anything from KWT group training sessions, to seminars and specific preparation and training tips, as well as a generic 10 week training program and even a free bike check. No excuses left now!
KWT Group Training 
New group training sessions are available from October 2019. We are very excited with what we have planned, read on for more information. All sessions are suitable for all levels.
Group swimming

This year we are excited to announce swimming coach Emma Cody coming on board with the Kapiti Women's Triathlon to provide you with training to help you have the best day possible. Emma currently coordinates and runs the Raumati Raptors Tuesday night programe and coaches the Raumati Masters club on Wednesday and Sundays. She has over ten years coaching experience here and in Australia and another 10 years competitive swimming experience.
She looks forward to seeing you all in October!    


Swimming session information

When: Sunday mornings 9:30 am-10:30 am from 20th October to 15th December

Cost: $5 donation to cover pool entry and coaching

Where: Coastlands Aquatics Center - Paraparaumu

What to bring: Togs, goggles and water bottle

Please look for a member of the KWT team as you arrive at the pool, come early enough to pay and get ready so you are ready to go in the pool by 9:30am.

Group running

When: Tuesday 22nd October 6pm start

            Thursday 7th November 6pm start

Cost: Free

Where: Start at the Waterfront Bar car park, Raumati.

What: Run part of the run course with experienced female runners from the Kapiti Running and Tri club. They can offer you their tips on running and help with technique or any questions you may have. This will be relaxed and social. 

What to bring: Your running gear, something warm to wear after and a drink bottle for after

Group Biking

The Kapiti Cycling Club have joined our group training. If you are after tricks and tips from the professional to keep you safe and confident on your bike then look no further. 

When:  Session 1: 18th November, 6 pm

             Session 2: 2nd December 6 pm

Cost: $5

Where: The Waterfront Bar car park, Raumati. 

What: Session 1: Improve your general riding and road skills

           Session 2: Improve your bike handling and personal riding skills. Turning around a cone, stopping, drinking on a bike,                 and cycling position.

What to bring: Your bike, a safety approved helmet and a water bottle. 

Sea swims

These give you  the opportunity to practice your sea swim (with lifeguards present). This is also a good time to ask questions and get practical tips and support from others. NO Booking is necessary, just turn up for 6:15 pm.  

When: 4th and 11th February 2020
Time: 6.15 pm for a 6.30 pm start
Where: Meet outside the Waterfront Bar. Matatua Road, Raumati Beach.  There are public changing facilities next to the Waterfront Bar. 

Cost: $5

Saturday sessions

Professional coaches will take you through skills and training in a safe group environment.  A great way to meet potential training buddies, other participants and have fun while you are doing it! We'll have a different focus each week - NO Booking is necessary, just turn up prepared to exercise at 8:45am.  See details below. Please note, the content of the sessions may change due to the weather so please arrive at each session prepared for every discipline. If this session is to change we will post this on our facebook page.

  • A FREE KWT info seminar:  Find out all about the event - from what to eat, what to  wear, to what to expect on the day. 

  • Nutritionist Megan O'Mara will answer all your questions about what to eat around training sessions and on the day. 

  • Q & A - Evelyn Williamson Event Director and event guru will be on hand to answer any questions you may have

  • Bra Lady - Lisa from Sport Support will demonstrate the importance of using a good sports bra to meet your goals!  A fascinating lesson. 

All abilities welcome, we guarantee you will learn something!  You are welcome to bring along friends & family.​

FREE Bike Checks

Biking Mad offer all participants free bike checks! Good to do this as you dust the bike off for training, not just the day before the event. They also have an excellent range of women specific bikes & accessories. Andrew and his team will help you with any biking needs you may have.

Ocean Swim Clinic - 12th January 2020
Freyberg Beach, Wellington

Former NZ International Triathlete and Olympian, Evelyn Williamson will share her experience with you in a friendly format.  Evelyn will offer you advice on many aspects of your training and racing, or if you are a beginner, she will offer you a starting point on how to maximise your enjoyment of the Ocean Swim Series and how to swim efficiently and effectively over long distances.

  • Navigational skills including: sighting, maintaining a straight line, dealing with currents, rounding buoys

  • Race starts and finishes

  • Swimming in a pack among the chaos and remaining calm

  • Specific course pointers for the Capital Classic ocean swim event
    and much more!

  • Session is half theory, half practical and is technically based rather than a 'workout'

  • Swimmers need to be competent swimming 400 m in a pool to register
